Yesterday was the monthly art stroll @ the Castleberry Hills district. With beau in tow we made our rounds and stumbled upon this gem of an artist. @ Marcia Wood Gallery you will see the solo exhibit of Georgia artist Monica Cook entitled “seeded and soiled”. Upon entering you will immediately be captivated by the large oil painting done with such amazing skill that it gives a photo like quality.
The hyper-realistic painting technique she utilizes makes the images just that much more creepy and …psychotic… I mean, check out the look in the nude woman’s eyes…. yeah.
Go see it for yourself. This one is ‘normal’ compared to the others in this series. Here’s a peek at another so you get an idea of the progression this takes:
All photos used are from www.marciawoodgallery.com
There is another series by Monica Cook @ the gallery. It’s Ink on mylar and it showcases the same intensity in detail with a bit more surrealism. The pic I want to show you isn’t coming up so just go to the gallery and/or the site.
There you can also find the online catalog on Monica Cook with 2 previous series featured and her artist statements. Or you can click here to go there.
